Beyond the Sea Wall - solo show of new work, Hales Gallery, London, UK

Private View with artist in attendance

New painting and sculpture connects ideas of past and present, good and bad fortune, and childhood memories of Guyana. The flood could be seen as a metaphor for the cyclicality of life and fluidity in one’s good fortune, the wall to barriers, protection and seclusion, and the ships to escape. In his poetic way Locke evokes the image of a mythical place. Time, fortune, history and change – Locke’s exploration of these concepts continues, not just looking at history and its unpredictability, but as a way of exploring politics, economy and culture.
